About the Conference
The 4th International Research Conference on Asian Business entitled ‘Knowledge Architectures for Development: Challenges Ahead for Business and Governance' is aimed at examining how concepts such as knowledge governance and knowledge-based economies (KBE) can be applied to the requirements of business, public sector organisations and civil society in both developing countries and emerging markets in Asia.
Key questions that the conference will address include: What is so unique in the way Asian countries are moving towards KBE (if at all) and how knowledge is governed? What can be done to further enhance learning and capability formation that can foster sustainable development in an increasingly globalised world? Which institutional arrangements are best suited for effectively governing global knowledge flows? What are the issues and challenges? How can k-related topics be best conceptualised? Possible differences between individual Southeast Asian countries, the ‘Chinese model' or the ‘Korean model' shall be explored, too.
The conference will provide a platform for local and international academicians and practitioners to examine the specifics of sustainable and value creating knowledge architectures for Asia's emerging KBEs in an era of accelerated innovation and profound knowledge traps so as to advance both relevant conceptual frameworks and empirical, actionable knowledge for development.
